Partner and Head of South-East Asia at Control Risks

Angela Mancini is a Partner and Head of Control Risks’ Southeast Asia office. She is responsible for Control Risks’ practices across Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar.

Angela is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), formerly with Deloitte & Touche, and has worked in financial services and economic development for 20 years. She has been posted in Russia, Indonesia, and Egypt, and has worked extensively in India, China, and sub-Saharan Africa. Her technical specialties are compliance and audit, anti-corruption, and financial risk management.

Prior to this role, she was based in New York City as the Managing Director heading up the firm’s accounts team for Eastern Americas and leading the Financial Services practice in the Americas. Before joining Control Risks, Angela was Managing Director and Head of Asia, Russia and Africa programmes at the Financial Services Volunteer Corps, a boutique financial risk advisory firm chaired by former US Fed Chair Paul Volcker.

Angela holds a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University. She is a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and appears regularly in the media, including on BBC, CNBC, Bloomberg News, NPR, Channel NewsAsia and in the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times.

David Marsh (Chairman & Co-Founder of OMFIF)

David Marsh is Chairman and Co-Founder of OMFIF. Before starting at OMFIF in late 2009, he worked for City merchant bank Robert Fleming, corporate finance boutique Hawkpoint, German management consultancy Droege and London investment firm London & Oxford. Marsh took over the chairmanship from John Plender on 1 January 2018 having been Managing Director since 2014. He moved to a non-executive role following John Orchard’s appointment as Chief Executive effective 1 January 2020.

Marsh is a Board Member of Henderson Eurotrust and the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany, and visiting Professor at Sheffield University and King’s College London. He is former co-founder, chairman and deputy chairman of the German-British Forum. He was made Commander of the British Empire in 2000 and was awarded the German Order of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz) in 2003.

Robert Carnell is Regional Head of Research, Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore. For the previous 13 years, he was Chief International Economist in London and has also worked for Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Schroder Investment Management, and the UK Government Economic Service in a career spanning more than 25 years.
Robert has a Masters degree in Economics from McMaster University, Canada, and a first-class honours degree from Salford University.

Philip is a research professional with 15 years’ experience having worked in Europe and Asia. Currently he heads up the regional Asian hub for Kadence.
Equally experienced with quantitative and qualitative research methods, he has worked with some of the biggest brands in the world, on some of their toughest and most strategic questions.

With a BA in Business Studies and an MA in Research & Consultancy, Philip has a strong theoretical background that he has used to grow his career in research. Philip has worked in the UK and has been in Singapore for around 10 years. Having moderated in UK, US, Singapore Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Australia (whilst viewing groups all over the world) he as a depth of knowledge about what makes consumers tick. In addition, Phil has worked for a number of B2B brands in his time – with a keen focus on understanding the relationships and sales techniques required to illicit growth. In addition to his qualitative capabilities, Phil has a detailed knowledge of quant techniques, running market sizing, pricing and volumetric projects for some of the leading consumer electronics companies in the world.

Philip has spoken at multiple conferences, was instrumental in Kadence winning HR awards in 2015 & 2016, orchestrated the Agency of the Year award wins in 2017 & 2018 & 2019 & has co-authored a book on the effective use of workshops in business.
