As CEO of the IPO Tim is responsible for advising Ministers on all IP policy matters and for the operation of the Office, which grants some 6325 patents, 63312 national trade marks and 20137 Designs each year*.

Tim came to the IPO from Companies House where he was the Registrar of Companies for England and Wales and Chief Executive (March 2012- April 2017). He worked at Companies House from 2002 where he held many senior positions within the organisation. His extensive work portfolio included leading on the digital agenda, operational delivery, business strategy and corporate policy. Tim also held the position of president of the Corporate Registers Forum (an association of over 60 registries worldwide) from 2013 to 2017.

Tim’s career also includes 12 years in senior operational roles in the manufacturing industry; he has a Natural Sciences degree from Cambridge University, an MBA from Swansea University and lives on a farm in South Wales and is married with two children. He was awarded a CBE in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to the economy and the people of Swansea.

Henry leads the Digital & Technology team at PwC Legal International Pte. Ltd. (a licensed Foreign Law Practice) in Singapore. He specialises in managing cross-border risk and capturing strategic opportunities for a host of public and private sector clients across the technology, consumer and manufacturing sectors which are seeking to establish or expand their presence in Asia, where he has been based since 2008.

As well as working with international law firms such as Allen & Overy and Bird & Bird before joining PwC Legal, Henry has spent extensive periods in-house in both Europe and Asia supporting a range of companies including Vodafone, Marconi and Yahoo!

He is also a venture partner at leading British VC fund Octopus Ventures, supporting its portfolio companies which are looking to grow into the markets of Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Sharmini Lohadhasan (Counsel – Brands, BP Legal at BP Singapore Pte Ltd)

Sharmini Lohadhasan is a Counsel-Brands, with BP Legal in Singapore. She specialises in trade mark and copyright related matters and has a mixed portfolio covering the Asia Pacific region and beyond. Sharmini has gathered extensive experience by working on contentious matters especially in China and ASEAN jurisdictions, ranging from enforcement to licensing matters. She also supports the regional snr management by providing strategic guidance on ways to mitigate and manage IP issues, including risks arising from BP’s business operations in the region. She has also worked in the London and Shanghai offices within the BP Group.

At present, she is an adjunct lecturer with Sorbonne-Assas International Law School - Singapore. Sharmini is also the Vice-chair for the EU Chamber IP committee in Singapore and a member of INTA’s SEA Anti-Counterfeiting regional committee. She is also the regional chair for BP Legal’ s Diversity and Inclusion committee. In her spare time, she volunteers with the Riding School for physically challenged children.

Looi Teck Kheong is the Head of Competition, Consumer Protection and Intellectual Property Regulations Division (CCPID) under the Market Integration Directorate of the ASEAN Economics Community Department, the ASEAN Secretariat.

He was formerly the General Counsel of China ASEAN Business Association under the legal, regulatory and public affairs department. He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor, Singapore.

Teck Kheong has about 30 years of professional experience spanning private practice as well as in house General Counsel, acting, amongst others, as regional counsel for a triple A global banking corporation in their regional Head Office for the Asia Pacific Region in which his responsibilities included advising on and securing IP protection for the bank in the region.

David Lossignol is currently Head of Trademarks, Domain Names and Copyrights at Novartis Pharma AG in Basel, Switzerland, leading a team of experienced trademark professionals handling all trademark, domain name and copyright matters for Novartis Pharma worldwide. He joined Novartis Pharma AG in Basel in January 2019 and was previously Global Head of Trademarks at Sandoz International GmbH in Holzkirchen, Germany from November 2015 until December 2018. Mr. Lossignol was previously Senior Trademark Attorney at Novartis Pharma AG in Basel, Switzerland, where he was responsible for worldwide trademark, design and domain name portfolios, and various related pan-European litigation matters.
