Chief Economist, Managing Director and Head of Macro Research at China Construction Bank

Li Cui is the Managing director, Chief Economist, and Head of Macro Research at China Construction Bank International, based in Hong Kong. She was formerly a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs where she led the bank’s macroeconomic research on China. Prior to that, she was the Chief China Economist at the Royal Bank of Scotland. She spent two years at Hong Kong Monetary Authority as a Division Head, overseeing policy cooperation between Mainland China and Hong Kong and offshore RMB market development. Before moving to Hong Kong in 2008, she was a Senior Economist at the International Monetary Fund based in Washington DC, responsible for economic analysis and policy advice for various countries including China, Australia, and transitional economies.

Li has written many articles on the Chinese and the international economy, and participates frequently in economic and policy discussions. She holds a B.A. from People’s University of China and M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Northwestern University.

Karen is a partner with EY’s Financial Services practise and leads the Strategy and Operations team in HK. She started her career in London after graduating in MSc International Economics with University of Birmingham in United Kingdom. She has years of professional experience in New York, London and APAC leading global transformation projects. Strong record in driving a team of 50+ to deliver large scale M&A integration/ carve out, operational improvement projects across front to back office functions of financial institutions. Karen qualified as chartered accountant with ICAEW, HKICPA and AICPA. She has also obtained her Project Management Professional and Yellow Belt Lean accreditation.

Jay is a Partner in EY’s Financial Services practice and leads the Wealth and Asset Management Advisory practice for Hong Kong. He has over 25 years of experience across Greater China, Southeast Asia, Japan, Australia and India and had senior roles in consulting and industry prior to EY. Jay was a Principal at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and a Managing Director at J.P. Morgan, where he held Asia Head of Strategy and CFO roles in the Investment Bank, Private Bank and Asset Management. Jay has an MBA from Kellogg, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Pomona College and a Diploma in Company Direction from the Hong Kong Institute of Directors. He has been based in Hong Kong for 20 years.
