Businesses understand why it is important to focus on less carbon-intensive sources of energy but there is limited knowledge particularly among SMEs about the GHG emissions arising from their operations.

This event would focus on how SMEs can quantify scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions and discuss some opportunities that would enable them to mitigate their GHG emissions.

Based in Singapore, Peter is the chief representative of the Energy Institute (EI) in the Asia Pacific region. In addition to his role with the EI, Peter has also worked as an independent advisor, consultant and executive coach to a number of organisations and governments agencies on issues related to the energy sector development within the context of the energy transition and decarbonisation and their strategic implications.

Despite a long career in the oil and gas industry, mainly with BP in upstream oil and gas and energy finance, Peter is now a strong advocate for the energy sector’s need to transition towards a cleaner, greener future. Particular areas of focus include the promotion of resource and operational efficiency through creating a more “circular economy” and recognition of the need to incorporate a more holistic, whole value-chain approach, to dealing with Scope 3 emissions.

Peter is also actively involved in activities related to promoting the need for, and accelerating the development of, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects, the development of the Hydrogen Economy and the decarbonisation of the hydrocarbon refining and petrochemicals sectors. Within this context, Peter has recently taken on the role of Vice-President APAC of Storegga, a leading UK based independent company that is entirely focused on pioneering carbon reduction and removal solutions.

Prannoy is a Senior Consultant at the Carbon Trust’s Singapore office. His work is focused on supporting corporates on sustainability strategies. He is advising corporates across the South East Asia region in their sustainability strategy and journey. This includes a systematic process of carbon footprinting across the value chain, target setting (SBTi, Net Zero), identification and quantification of climate-change related risks and opportunities (TCFD), assurance & labelling, climate leadership framework, etc.

Prior to joining the Carbon Trust, Prannoy worked in the industry for around 13 years. Where he was developing and offering a variety of bespoke sustainable solutions to corporate customers for their environmental sustainability needs.
Prannoy holds a Master’s degree in environmental engineering from Singapore Stanford Partnership program. He is also an engineer by training.

Hazim is an Associate at the Carbon Trust, and is based in the Singapore office. He has worked on a range of GHG accounting projects, including advising a South East Asia-headquartered food and beverage company improve its greenhouse gas emissions accounting. Hazim supports the delivery of the UK Government’s ASEAN Low Carbon Energy Programme and is also currently delivering projects on renewable energy and future energy systems.

Prior to joining Carbon Trust, Hazim spent approximately a year in Bangkok where he consulted for the UNFCCC and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies on climate finance, green financial inclusion and regional carbon markets.
Hazim holds a Master's in Environmental Policy from Sciences Po's Paris School of International Affairs and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours – Distinction) in Chemical Engineering from the National University of Singapore. Hazim speaks Malay, Indonesian and French.
