BACKGROUND

Following the success of the inaugural International Women's Day Virtual Conference, a follow up to several consecutive years of our flagship diversity and inclusion event, the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore is excited to bring you our latest edition. Our 2020 Virtual Conference attracted attendees across the globe and we will be once again bringing together trailblazers, leaders and inspiring stories for attendees from around the globe to enjoy lively debate and knowledge exchange.

This year's Virtual Conference will continue to generate thought-provoking discussion centred around the Official IWD theme of #ChoosetoChallenge and delve deeper to the address the UN Women Official theme of 'Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in COVID-19 world'.

Whilst 'Women in Leadership' is not a new conversation, the environmental influences which feed into the topic of discussion have changed considerably. The world we currently share with COVID-19 has highlighted shortcomings both in the workplace and at home, be it spinning the plates of career and nurturing a family or pushing back on unconscious bias placed on those that live beyond the realms of societal norm.

We hope that by continuing to 'think together', we can help accelerate the pace of gender balance in organisations, society and find a way forward.

Register now for your ticket which includes all activities. Reward your employees, entertain your clients and save on individual prices by purchasing a Conference Group Ticket for up to 5 attendees (see ticket options for terms and conditions). Attendees will receive first access to the recordings of each webinar session for one month before general release and can interact with speakers through our Q&A in each session.

The Conference is open for all to join - our members, members of the wider British Chambers of Commerce Global Network, and those who are not members of the network.

Ahead of the Conference, visit the Pre-Reading area where you will find relevant reports and information from our speakers and partners ahead of the sessions.

CONFERENCE SESSIONS

Thursday 4 March, 5pm SGT / 9am GMT: Women in Leadership/STEM

As the spotlight shines on female leaders rising up the ranks, is this narrative reflected across all industries, and if not, what can be done to address those being left behind and often still faced with archaic corporate structure? Education, quotas and those willing to speak out can help push for equal and fair opportunities, but as STEM industries grow, are the changes in these associated sectors being made fast enough to keep up with societal expectation?

Is the pandemic another contributing factor in feeding unconscious bias or has the shared home working and schooling brought about opportunities and understanding?

Join us to hear from leaders in STEM industries as they discuss what can be done to accelerate the pace of change, and bring diverse groups together for the benefit of individuals, companies and societies.

Hear from those who have chosen to challenge the status quo and created opportunities for themselves, their colleagues, and communities.

Our panel of leaders have pushed boundaries, asked questions and worked to promote positive change and reduce resistance for a more diverse and inclusive present and future.

A challenged world is an alert world.

Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day.

We can choose to challenge and call out gender bias, discrimination and stereotyping.

We can choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements.

Collectively, we can create an inclusive and more gender-equal world.

From challenge comes change, so let's all choose to challenge.
