WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

ASEAN is predicted to become the world's fourth largest economy by 2030, and its Member States are leveraging technology and innovation to fuel this economic growth. In view of the region's single market vision and economic ambitions, ASEAN has been proactive in developing strong intellectual property (IP) systems and several ASEAN Action Plans have sought to build capacity at a national level as well as harmonise IP practices across the region.

Significant progress has been made in this respect, however the IP landscape in the region remains fragmented, reflective of diverse economic and regulatory environments. Whilst some IP markets have developed an advanced system of IP protection and enforcement to facilitate trade and enterprise, other IP markets are still in the process of conforming to international IP best practices and standards. This asymmetrical landscape presents both challenges and opportunities for businesses seeking to protect and enforce their IP.

THIS EVENT IS FREE FOR ALL ATTENDEES

WHAT WILL BE DISCUSSED

As we consider ASEAN's current IP landscape, the opportunities it holds and what's next for the region, we will explore how to nurture impactful partnerships for development in this space. Alongside regional efforts, Southeast Asia can leverage relationships with international IP offices, such as the UK IPO, as well as with industry in the context of established channels for cooperation and advocacy such as INTA. In light of these opportunities for collaboration, join us in conversation as we consider how industry and government can best work together to overcome challenges and facilitate harmonisation and progress in this space.
