About the Event

We encourage all members to join us for this annual event where the Chamber leadership will present the report of 2023, including member network growth, the Chamber's financial position, and our achievements. Members will enjoy networking opportunities over canapes and drinks served at this complimentary event, hosted at the British High Commissioner to Singapore's Official Residence, Eden Hall. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our Event Partner, Jaguar Land Rover, for their support of this important event.

We will also hear during the evening from our Patron, Her Excellency Kara Owen CMG CVO, British High Commissioner to Singapore. This will be one of Kara's final events with the Chamber as she prepares to leave Singapore this summer, and we encourage all members to be represented to wish Kara well.

Voting members or their proxies will be asked to vote on agenda items, and all members will be introduced to the incoming Committee (Board). For the purposes of clarity, a voting member in this context is also known as the Primary Member for each company's membership. If you are a Primary Member who has registered to attend but are no longer able to, please support the governance process by completing the Proxy Form below and nominating another member from your organisation to attend and vote on your behalf. Proxy Forms should be sent to anna@britcham.org.sg by the deadline of 7th May.

This event will also mark the official term end for the Committee (Board) members of 2023/24 and the commencement of the new term for 2024/25.

Damian Adams

David Kelly

Executive Director of British Chamber of Commerce

Damian advises venture capital, private equity and infrastructure investors, family offices and international organisations on corporate transactions across a range of sectors. He is highly experienced in structuring, negotiating and executing complex cross-border investments.

Trained in the city of London and qualified in England and Wales (1999), Damian has been based in Singapore since early 2000, during which time he has gained deep experience of transactions across Asia, from greenfield, early stage and growth capital investments through to joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions.

Damian is a hands-on lawyer, closely involved in running transactions from initial structuring through to completion. He has advised Asia-based clients on transactions and projects in the UK, USA and Africa, and has project managed non-transactional commercial ventures for clients, such as regional office and business set-up across Asia.

He has developed and managed practices and teams in both law firms of which he has been a partner. As a partner he has spent time on short-term client secondment, identifying and managing their legal risk on transactions and investments.

Having focused on investment, M&A and other corporate transactions for the majority of his career, Damian also gained early career experience of secured financing transactions, particularly big-ticket assets and commodities, as well as commodities sale and purchase, storage and warehousing.

He has served the British Chamber of Commerce in Singapore for more than 15 years, variously as a Business Group Chair, Secretary and elected Board Member (8 years), and as a Vice-President with oversight of all facets of member engagement and a particular focus on governance, returning to the Board in 2020. Damian was elected President of the British Chamber of Commerce in April 2022.

Damian has lived and worked in London, Copenhagen, Paris and Singapore. English is his native tongue and he also speaks fluent French.

David Kelly is the Executive Director of the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore responsible for the strategy, growth and profile of the Chamber, supporting and representing British business interests, and connecting companies to opportunities in Singapore and across ASEAN. A Chartered Marketer, David joined the British Chamber of Commerce (Singapore) in 2019. He also has a regional role Co-Chairing Britain in South East Asia (BiSEA) promoting pan-ASEAN opportunities for UK companies. David has lived in Singapore since 2015.

Prior to his role at the Chamber, David worked at the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) where he spearheaded the development and execution of a completely reinvigorated global marketing strategy along with an Asia Pacific regional expansion plan which fortified the Institute and supported rapid growth between 2012-2019, seeing the Institute double in size from 11,000 members to 23,000 with membership in Asia Pacific increasing from 19% to 40% of global subscribers. Alongside his role at the IMarEST, he was also the Chair of the UK’s Marine Industries Leadership Council (MILC) Image Working Group from 2014 – 2016 and was involved in a number of industry reports covering skills, education & training and automation in the shipping industry.

Before the IMarEST, David led and delivered the global turn-around marketing programmes for the International Wine & Spirit Competition Group of brands in the UK, America and Asia after marketing B2B and B2C solutions, both online and offline, in the financial services industry.

Born in Manchester, UK, David is passionate about mentoring, life-long learning and supporting others and has been a mentor at Ngee Ann Polytechnic (Singapore) and the University of Hull for Business and Marketing students and a committee member on the Singapore Institute of Technology’s Marine Programmes' Industry Advisory Committee (IAC).
