This event, led by our Women in Business Committee, is a highlight for our diversity and inclusion activities throughout the year. ALL are welcome, and tickets go fast, so save the date!

Our theme for the 2025 event is "Accelerate Action" aligned with the committee's focus, "From Awareness to Action: Towards an Inclusive Future." We have invited a strong panel of speakers who will share how we can create greater momentum in furthering diversity, inclusion, and empowering women in business and society.

Our speakers will also unveil their own personal journeys and insights towards taking greater action for gender equity.

Rodney is a dynamic and results-oriented leader who has been at the forefront of BT's growth in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa (AMEA) region since assuming the role of Managing Director in 2021. His strategic acumen and relentless drive have played a pivotal role in positioning BT as a leader in the AMEA market.

Based in Singapore, Rodney focuses on fostering a culture of excellence and inclusivity within his teams, recognizing that diverse perspectives are essential for delivering successful outcomes. With over 25 years of experience spanning diverse markets worldwide, including Singapore, China, South-East Asia, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the Americas, Rodney brings a wealth of knowledge and a global perspective to his role.

Rodney's journey with BT began in 2010, where he quickly rose through the ranks, excelling in roles such as client delivery director and client partner for strategic global accounts. He is deeply committed to diversity and inclusion, serving as a member of BT's Diversity and Inclusion Board and advocating for sustainability in business practices.

A passionate and transformational leader, Rodney possesses hands-on experience in IT services, honed through his earlier career as a system engineer and major program management expert in building sub-sea optical fiber networks globally. His proficiency in driving sales with P&L responsibility underscores his adaptability and deep understanding of diverse and technical markets.

Rodney is a Chartered Engineer with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, complemented by a Master of Science (MSc) from Oxford University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Manchester Business School.

Beyond his professional endeavours, Rodney treasures spending quality time with his family. He enjoys pursuing his interests in cooking, golf, and rugby, finding balance and fulfilment outside of his leadership role.

Former Channel NewsAsia TV Journalist and News Presenter, Sharon Tong, is now the powerhouse behind a decade-old media consultancy.

She runs The Media Consultants with the same passion she derived from her days in the newsroom. Twenty years in the newsroom honed her ability to be concise, catchy and captivating.

She takes these skills, plus her journalism experience to companies and government organisations, with a singular pitch for good communication.

Together with her team of fellow media practitioners, Sharon has dreams of The Media Consultants one day being a name synonymous with having the best and most passionate media and communication coaches in the business.

From shaping narratives in the boardroom, to shaping the next generation of communicators in the classroom, Sharon believes good communication is the next great leveller.

She volunteers her expertise at schools, dreaming up fun-filled lessons to get children and teens thinking and talking.

Kay Poh Gek Vasey is the Head of Youth and Family at k-ID, dedicated to a singular mission: protecting and empowering kids and teens as they navigate the digital world. Under her leadership, it's not about telling young people what they can't do; it's about giving them the right tools to discover what they can.

Leveraging her expertise in designing interactive experiences across VR, AR, and gaming, Kay leads the co-design process for k-ID Family products and platforms that support parenting in the digital age. She brings together industry experts, policymakers, parents, kids, and teens to create innovative solutions that organise the world's online safety information, making it accessible and actionable for all. As the lead evangelist for k-ID Family, she builds strategic partnerships, manages user experience research, which helps define new features to drive growth and engagement.

Her journey to k-ID is rooted in her passion for using tech for good. She founded MeshMinds and The MeshMinds Foundation, partnering with UNEP, UNESCO, Meta, and Apple to create immersive experiences that foster climate, cultural, and digital literacy across the Asia-Pacific region. Notably, she ran the ‘100 Days to #BeatPlasticPollution’ campaign for the UN, the ‘Art Reimagined’ creative technology incubation programs for Meta, and developed 'Sky Farm Island' on Roblox—an initiative inspiring kids to grow and eat their greens, which was selected for the UN’s Playing for the Planet Green Game Jam.

Previously, Kay was also Head of Arts at the British Council Singapore and a UK-qualified aviation lawyer. All of her skills and experience to date have allowed her to develop a unique blend of legal, creative, and tech expertise. And now, as a mother of two Generation Alpha boys, she navigates parenting in the digital age on a daily basis, bringing personal insight to her current professional endeavours.
