Caroline serves as Managing Director and Head of Sustainable Finance. She works closely with origination teams – both in the public markets and private finance arena - focusing on a holistic approach to sustainability, working with clients across products and markets, as well as providing ESG rating, regulatory and disclosure insights. In addition to the financing dialogue, Caroline engages with institutional investors globally to understand their ESG objectives and develop new products to meet their needs.

Caroline is actively involved in NatWest Group’s and NatWest Markets’ climate change programmes and working groups. In addition, she represents NatWest on the GFMA Board, the LSE’s Sustainable Bond Market Advisory Council, AFME’s Sustainable Finance working group and ICMA’s Transition Bond working group. Participation in these industry groups enables Caroline to help shape sustainable finance as it evolves.

Given this dynamic area, Caroline is also involved in embedding sustainability throughout NWM, from product governance, marketing and communications, as well as supporting internal carbon reduction efforts and ESG-informed credit frameworks. She was invited to join NWM’s Capital Markets’ Management Team in August to incorporate ESG into the business and is now reporting directly to Jon Peberdy, Head of Capital Markets.

Caroline graduated from Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry followed by an MBA from European University.

Peiqian produces investment recommendations on Asian foreign exchange and interest rates markets with a focus on China. She pays close attention to China’s economic fundamentals, market structure and politics.

Prior to joining NatWest Markets, Peiqian was the Asia Strategist at SEB. Peiqian started her career at Commerzbank where she was an Asia Economist with a focus on China.

Peiqian joined Bloomberg New Voices Program as one of the leading female finance professionals in Singapore in 2020. She was also ranked as Bloomberg’s Top 10 Forecaster in Q3 2019.

Peiqian was named as one of the four finalists under “Individual Contribution of the Year” for the 21st Annual Business Awards from the British Chamber of Commerce in 2020.
